Our Horses
Un-Named Gelding
Age: Six
Sire: Leading Light
Dam: Milling Road
Trainer: Jessica Bedi, Yarm, Northumberland
Discipline: National Hunt - Bumpers, hurdles or fences.
An intelligent and good looking unraced gelding who we feel can represent real value for our owners. The six year old gelding has spent time at a pre-training yard, learning the basics of racing and will soon transfer to Jess Bedi's stable in the beautiful location of Northumberland.
He is a son of the St Leger and Ascot Gold Cup winner Leading Light, who has started to stamp his class on the National Hunt scene courtesy of his progeny which includes the Grade One winner Three Stripe Life and the smart Light N Strike. The dam Milling Road was unraced herself, but has produced our lad's talented half brother, Jody Ted; who won twice over fences last season in Ireland and was sent off favourite for the ultra-competitive Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown in 2023. Further back in the family, the Grade Two winner and Grade One runner up Loosen My Load is also a member of the extended family.
We are open to suggestions from our owners for a potential name for our gelding and we will aim to find an end of season bumper before April. If that isn't possible, we will go straight over hurdles as we feel he has plenty of scope for jumping and we can't wait to get started with him.

SHANTOU LUCKY
Age: Seven
Sire: Shantou
Dam: Backtothekingsnest
Trainer: Jessica Bedi, Yarm, Northumberland.
Discipline: National Hunt - Hurdles or Chasing.
A good looking type who is bred for the National Hunt game, Shantou Lucky brings with him plenty of experience and success in recent seasons.
The seven year old is a son of high class flat racer and renowned jumps sire Shantou, who has also produced the likes of Grade One winner The Storyteller, the prolific Death Duty and the exciting prospect Chianti Classico. On the dam side, Shantou Lucky is a half brother to two winners over hurdles. One of those is the ill fated but talented Hoi Polloi while the other, Eyes Of The Tiger, placed at class two level over hurdles.
He began his career in Ireland with the excellent Gavin Cromwell stable. His first success came on his second handicap start over hurdles in May 2021 before making it two wins for the year in December at Punchestown. He did well to win over two different distances, two miles and two miles four furlongs. He then switched to fences the following season and after a promising debut over larger obstacles, he scored at Clonmel in decent style. After running in useful company for the rest of the year, Shantou Lucky moved across the Irish Sea to join the Jess Bedi stable in early 2023. He wouldn't make his stable debut for another year and things didn't go as well as planned as he pulled up on his first two British starts. After a break to settle into new regimes, Shantou Lucky has improved with each run. A breakthrough would come at Perth in September 2024 where he was held up throughout and moved through the field stylishly to romp home under Aaron Anderson.
The seven year old is adept over hurdles and fences which gives us plenty of options to examine going forward. With winning for between two miles and two and a half miles, Shantou Lucky is versatile in trip and should hopefully bring us some luck.
