Ready To Go!

We are excited to say that Shantou Lucky is declared to run on Sunday 3rd November at Huntingdon in a class five handicap hurdle over 2 miles and 4 furlongs (4:14pm). Aaron Anderson will keep the ride and takes a handy 5lbs off the horse's back.

Shantou is in great order at home and we hope for a good run and that he comes home safely. Good luck to the owners!

Settling In Already!

A great shot of the gorgeous Shantou Lucky and Jess this morning. He has settled in quickly at his new yard and plans are already afoot for races soon!

We are looking forward to kicking on this winter with this four time winner.

Feeling Lucky?

Wednesday 23rd October 2024

We are very pleased to announce the arrival of a new horse and beginning of a brand new partnership for the upcoming National Hunt season.
It is a pleasure to welcome trainer Jessica Bedi to our team as well as Shantou Lucky, who was a winner as recently as early September! Jessica may only have a small scale operation, but she is proven with delivering results on both the flat and over jumps. You can find out more about Jessica in the "Our Trainers" section of the website.
Shantou Lucky will join us as a recent winner. The seven year old has won over hurdles and fences in the past and was a wide margin winner at Perth. We are grateful for the opportunity to team up and look forward to upcoming weeks. You can also find out more about Shantou Lucky in the "Our Horses" and "Available Shares" sections of the website.

An Update.

This morning, 10th October 2024, we were informed of some news that no one in this sport wants to hear. Summer Night City suffered a catastrophic injury whilst doing a routine canter on the gallops which meant he was unable to be saved. We are all incredibly devastated at this news and we unfortunately find ourselves at this terrible low again this year.

We would like to thank those involved on the scene for doing their utmost to save Summer Night City. He may have only introduced himself to the team briefly, but we felt very excited for the future when first purchasing him. Please respect our wishes to allow us to process the news and grieve for the time being. We will be back soon.

Signed, Sealed and Delivered!

Peak Racing are proud to announce the signing of a new horse, purchased from the Tatts Online September Sales. We can give a warm welcome to the four-year-old Summer Night City to the team, who will be trained by John Wainwright in Malton. The horse's name was inspired by a song by legendary band ABBA and the gelding has been a hit on the track so far.

The gelding is a son of tough stayer Yorgonnabelucky who won at class two level during his career when trained by Mark Johnston and is beautifully bred as full brother to top class Group One winner Shamardal.  During his racing career, he was owned by Roger Brookhouse, whose light blue and pink silks have been carried to big success in the National Hunt sphere. Brookhouse also bred the horse, courtesy of the dam Reset City. Summer City Night has four full brothers, inlcuding David Pipe's Lady Reset who won four times over hurdles and five on the flat.
Previously trained by rising dual purpose trainer Ben Brookhouse in Newmarket, Summer Night City looked to be a useful prospect in 2023 by winning on his second start at Hereford, where he showed a good change of pace to score nicely over hurdles. His most recent start would come over nearly three miles which tested his stamina and he was unsurprisingly outstayed.
The plan will be to remain over hurdles at a more suitable two miles and this lightly raced gelding could have more to offer once he settles into his new surroundings!

Keep Your Eyes Peeled...

Following a troubling last few months with our horses,  the heartbreaking loss of Righteous Ruane and the untimely retirement due to injury of Mr Hailstone,  we have taken some time to reflect and plan for the future.

With the 2024/25 national hunt season fast approaching, we are aiming to purchase some new horses to race in our colours.

The upcoming online sales on Thursday 15th August will give us the opportunity to weigh up new recruits and hopefully bring better news and luck to our racing club.

Stay tuned for more!

A Message From The Boss
Good afternoon all, unfortunately I am bringing bad news.

Mr Hailstone has done a leg which has stemmed from an old injury. He was going so well at home and nothing indicated to us that this would be a problem but unfortunately it is. He will now be retired and found a good home.
If he was to stay in training it would mean he would have a year and a half recovering minimum and by then he’d be going on 10 and who’s to say it wouldn’t cause another problem further down the line. So being fair to him and you guys the correct decision is to retire him now.
What’s next for the syndicate you may ask… and that is a question I do not know the answer to right now. We have had absolutely awful luck and I’m in a bit of a position where getting another horse may prove difficult right now without some cash behind us.
I would obviously love for us all to club together and go to the upcoming sales to get one, if that would be of interest please let me know and what type of budget you’d want to put forward if so. Sorry to bring this to you and I hope we can stick together one way or another.
David

Righteous Ruane

Saturday 11th May

It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce the loss of Righteous Ruane during his race yesterday.

Approaching the final circuit, Righteous Ruane took a bad step into a divot in the ground and suffered a catastrophic injury. Mercifully, Alan Doyle pulled him up immediately and dismounted before Ruane was rushed away by horse ambulance. Following x rays, it appeared that Ruane suffered multiple fractures to his pastern which gave us the most heart breaking decision to euthanise him.

We are extremely saddened by the events of yesterday and wholeheartedly appreciate the messages of support. As horse racing fans and owners, we love the horses and they are the main athletes of the sport. Just like in all walks of life, accidents can happen in a split second and sadly disaster struck for us.

Everyone at John's yard and Peak Racing were so excited with the potential of Righteous Ruane as he was showing his best work recently. We will never forget Ruane and he will always be our flag bearer and our first horse.

Thank you to the vetenary team at Market Rasen for trying everything to save Ruane's life. Thank you Righteous Ruane,  run free our friend.

Raceday Once Again!

April 8th 2024

We have declared Righteous Ruane to run at Market Rasen once again!

He will race in a class five handicap hurdle over two and a half miles, just like last time but we have reasonable confidence for a good run!

Three pound claiming apprentice Alan Doyle takes over in the saddle this time and the race has split into two divisions. Righteous Ruane will run in the first division which will help our cause from a very low weight.

The forecasted dry weather will also be in our favour as we expect Ruane to improve plenty on the quicker ground. Therefore,  we hope to see a much better showing this time around to set up a summer campaign.

We look forward to meeting our owners at the track once again and aim for a surprise!

A New Horse!

April 16th 2024

The Grand National excitement may have settled down for another year, but we're delighted to secure our second horse for Peak Racing! Unfortunately it isn't I Am Maximus, but we have secured Mr Hailstone; an eight year old gelding who will be trained by John Wainwright.

Mr Hailstone produced his own piece of folklore on Grand National day in 2023 when he won at Chepstow in extraordinary fashion. Turning for home, he was some thirty lengths behind the leader but made relentless progress down the straight to win the race. It is a race that needs to be seen to be believed, even today we don't know how he managed it!
Mr Hailstone has been enjoying a spell in the point-to-point scene recently and won three times. With his confidence restored, we are hoping that this very lightly raced chaser can make more headlines with Peak Racing!

For more information on Mr Hailstone and how to get involved, check out the "Our Horses" or "Available Shares" tabs!

Plenty To Build On

April 10th 2024

A number eight may appear on Righteous Ruane's form book after today, but he ran much better than it suggests and everyone at Peak Racing was delighted with his effort at Market Rasen.

The much unwanted rain made a return and it led to testing ground. By the time of our race, the ground had changed from a previously advertised "good to soft" to  "soft" as well as the ground beginning to open up underfoot. Therefore, conditions were never going to be ideal for Righteous Ruane but he tried his hardest.
Held up at the back by Joe Williamson, Ruane jumped accurately and turning for home on the final cicuit, he began to pick off horses one by one. We thought he had a decent chance for a placing at best as the first two finishers pulled a long way clear. Weakening in the final stages, Ruane came home eighth, but in a crowd of horses for the minor places. We take pride in finishing half a length behind a Jonjo O'Neill-trained horse and in front of a Dan Skelton-trained horse. Not bad for our first run!
It was a momentous day for all of our owners and a thrill to see the grey and red silks on track. We feel that when the ground firms up in the coming months, there is plenty of fun to be had. We would like to thank Joe Williamson for his feedback and our owners for the continued support.

Thank you to Michael Dyas for this cracking pre-race shot!

Let's Go Racing!

April 8th 2024

We have made the very exciting decision to declare Righteous Ruane in a race at Market Rasen on Wednesday 10th April! He will run in the 3:30 class five handicap hurdle with the talented Joe Williamson in the saddle. Ruane ran well over the same course and distance in very bad ground last time so we hope he can step up with a low weight.

It will be a fantastic day for everyone involved as Ruane becomes our first ever runner. Hopefully it will be the start of something amazing!

At Peak Racing, we would like to wish you all a happy Easter and stay tuned for a possible new signing in the not too distant future!

Deal Done, Here... We... Go!

March 20th 2024

It gives us great pleasure to announce that we have secured the first horse to run for Peak Racing!
We are delighted to welcome the six year old gelding Righteous Ruane to the team and he is currently ready to race. The son of St Leger winner Arctic Cosmos is in training with our close partner John Wainwright and has raced three times in Britain so far. All being well, we can target some races in the upcoming weeks which will suit the horse.
Find out more about Righteous Ruane on the "Our Horses" tab or get involved today with the "Available Shares" tab!

The Latest Fashion Trend!

March 2024

Horses are the key component to ownership, but racing colours are just as important. We need to be easily identifiable on the racecourse and we are very excited to reveal our jockey silks!
The inspiration comes from the silks David's grandfather raced with when he was an owner. The grey body with red hoop and red-white quartered cap will be seen on a racecourse the next time Righteous Ruane races. We would like to thank Allertons Racing for creating our silks, the excitement was palpable when they arrived!
